Astonbury - The Artists

We have always had a wide range of acts ranging from solo guitarists, gospel choirs, drum bands and solo singers.

Returning this year are some favourites such as :

Brian Hawkes Brian Hawkes was new to Astonbury in 2007 playing soaring Santana styled guitar ballads. Brian has now confirmed that he will be playing in 2008.
Brigit Brandon has been singing for a number of years and she has a wonderful voice.

Chrystina Tomlin is a budding young star with her own band. She writes all of her own uncompromising music and plays both guitar and keyboards. Chrystina is an Astonbury regular and you can find out more about her and hear some of her work at www.chrystinatomlin.com

Chrystina will be performing with her band at Astonbury 2008.

For the last two years we have had the Vitae Drum Circle who have given spirited performances. Find out more about the Vitae Drum Circle here

In Reverence Gospel Choir first came to Astonbury in 2006 and lifted the whole evening with the sheer exuberance of their singing and playing.
hayley Haley Wilkinson is already a professional singer. She first started with the Aston Abbotts' Christmas show where her raw talent was noted. She has appeared in every Astonbury since the beginning, notably taking the lead on Raining Men just as a heavy shower broke out.

Forget Emerson, Lake and Palmer - we have Palmer and Palmer! Nigel and Anthony Palmer are both classically trained musicians and have been a feature of all of our shows playing such items as War of the Worlds, Conquest of Paradise, and Tequila.

Nigel and Anthony are both key performers.

Rachel Sutton heads up a six piece band and is a very talented and melodic singer. Great voice, great style and great presence. One of the original Astonbury singers.

john John Whyte is a key astonbury performer and part of the organising team. John sings both solo and as part of the Chunkies.

Simon Gresswell and Chunkfunster. Simon was discovered by us in the village as a good old time rock and roll voice. He is as much at home singing Sinatra as Zeppelin. Together with Chunkfunster he always produces a strong and forceful set.

Simon and Chunkfunster have confirmed that they will be at Astonbury 2008.

wongster Also in Chunkfunster is the Wongster whose dynamic and outstanding guitar playing always wows the crowd.

Last, but by no means least, The Chunkies. Chunkie by name, chunkie by nature, they are guaranteed to get the audience on their feet.

The Chunkies used to be Gerry and the 'Atricks until one of their number left the country saying that he couldn't stand the shame any more, The name came from Hey Hey we're the Chunkies……
