Community Impact Bucks 2011 Showcase Event- 27th September 2011
The Community Impact Bucks Showcase event will be held on Tuesday 27th September 2011 from 4.30pm at the Green
Park Conference Centre, Aston Clinton. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the Community Impact Bucks team and
learn more about the way we can help you.
Digital TV Switchover Coming this month
Community Impact Bucks will be running advice points in Aylesbury, Buckingham and Princes Risborough to help with
any questions you have about switchover, including re-tuning, equipment and the Switchover Help Scheme
Village SOS Competition
What could your village do with a share of £5.3 million? The Village SOS Competition will give around 250 awards of
between £10,000 and £30,000 to kick start community businesses.
Calling all Trustees
Date for your diaries – As part of the national trustee week we will be holding a countywide event for trustees in

Understanding Outcomes Workshop (Grant Funding Information) 19th October 2011
This workshop will help people intending to apply to the Big Lottery and other 'Outcomes' oriented funders for project
based grants,
Social Media for Voluntary & Community Organisations 20th October 2011
This session is intended to help voluntary and community groups who are considering using social media such as
Facebook, Twitter and other web tools to improve the effectiveness of their organisation.
Evidencing Need (Grant Funding Information session) 30th November 2011
This event is intended to help groups wishing to apply to the Big Lottery and other funders for project based grants
Invest in your Volunteers
For anyone who supervises, manages or coordinates volunteers. These are interactive events with a chance to meet
others in the voluntary sector. We will focus on good practice and top tips for success when recruiting and retaining
volunteers. There are 3 training events taking place:

19th October in Buckingham
22nd November in High Wycombe

Wycombe Partnership Community Champions 2011
The nomination period for this year’s Wycombe Partnership Community Champions Awards, to be held on 2 November,
is now open. The awards are a bi-annual event that recognise and celebrate the achievements of groups and individuals
and promote opportunities for everyone in the Wycombe district to become involved in supporting their community
Recruitment Opportunity- General Manager required at Workaid
Workaid is seeking an enthusiastic and well organised person to take on the role of General Manager to replace the
present incumbent who will retire later this year.
South Central Ambulance Service are looking for two outstanding individuals
to serve as a Designate and Non-executive Director on South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust
The Aylesbury Vale Community Chest 2010-11 Annual Report is now available
to download from the Community Chest Webpage. Microgrants up to £1,000 continue to be reviewed every month. The
next closing date for project grants up to £25,000 is 9th December 2011.
Aylesbury Vale District Council
AVDC is once again running a training programme from Sept 11 – March 12. This heavily subsidised programme is
designed specifically for community & voluntary groups and is open to all groups in Buckinghamshire at a very
reasonable rate. The programme has been significantly altered from previous years so check it out even if your group
has attended before.
Community Action Against Crime: Innovation Fund
The Home Office has announced a new fund, worth £5million in 2011/12 to stimulate creative new approaches to tackling crime. The
fund will be used to encourage greater community activism, enabling communities to develop innovative approaches to tackling the
local crime issues that matter to them
BT Community Connections Award Scheme
If you know of a community group which helps, or wants to help, people access the internet and improve their ICT skills,
they could be eligible to receive 12 months' free broadband from BT.

Big Lottery Fund consultation
According to the Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude “Too many long and unwieldy restrictions govern how the
Big Lottery Fund (BIG) hands out money, inhibiting their ability to do their job properly. Therefore, in line with the transfer
of responsibilities for BIG, the Cabinet Office is opening a 12-week consultation on proposed new policy directions for BIG
to try to address this.”
